Category: Protocol: RADIUS

Description: GNOME project RADIUS daemon MIB for monitoring FreeRADIUS authentication server statistics and configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is GNOME-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB?

GNOME-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB is part of the GNOME/Net-SNMP project's product-registration namespace, providing a unique SNMP OID identity for FreeRADIUS, the open-source RADIUS authentication/accounting daemon, rather than defining its own data-carrying objects. It exists so that FreeRADIUS can be identified (e.g., via sysObjectID or SMUX registration) when running under an SNMP agent such as Net-SNMP. As a product-identity module it does not itself expose runtime hardware/software status objects; any monitoring of FreeRADIUS process health, authentication throughput, or accounting statistics would come from FreeRADIUS's own instrumentation or host-level MIBs (e.g., HOST-RESOURCES-MIB for process status) rather than from this MIB directly. It is explicitly dependent on the GNOME-PRODUCT registration hierarchy for its OID assignment. It is deployed wherever a Linux/Unix host runs FreeRADIUS alongside Net-SNMP for basic product identification. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the GNOME-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GNOME-PRODUCT-RADIUSD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based product-identity MIB, applies to Linux/Unix hosts running FreeRADIUS under Net-SNMP

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only the freeradius and radiusd OID registration nodes used to identify the FreeRADIUS product to an SNMP manager; it contains no runtime data tables or counters, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe beyond confirming which sysObjectID a FreeRADIUS-hosting agent reports.
