Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for CLI session management and command-line interface configuration parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-CLI-MIB?

G6-CLI-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for its Generation 6 (G6) Ethernet switch family, covering configuration of the device's command-line interface subsystem. It exposes settings such as whether Telnet and SSH access are enabled, the CLI prompt source and welcome message, script/automation mode, auto text expansion, and inactivity timeout, rather than traffic or environmental data. Its monitoring relevance is mainly around software configuration and management-plane status: confirming whether remote CLI access methods (Telnet, SSH) are enabled or disabled is a basic security posture check, and the inactivity timeout setting affects how long idle management sessions remain open. As a vendor private-enterprise MIB it has no stated dependency on other MIBs beyond the standard SNMP framework. It is deployed alongside MICROSENS' broader G6 switch MIB set in environments managing fleets of G6 Ethernet switches via SNMP alongside CLI/SSH access, and a G6-CLI-MIB download is included in MICROSENS' standard MIB package for administrators auditing these settings.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-CLI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6 Generation 6 Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator auditing management-plane security on a G6 switch would check cliEnableTelnet and cliEnableSsh to confirm insecure Telnet access has been disabled in favor of SSH, and would review cliInactivityTimeout to ensure idle CLI sessions are closed within policy. An unexpectedly enabled cliEnableTelnet flag or a disabled cliInactivityTimeout would flag a configuration drift from a hardened baseline.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Telnet access enabled/disabled
  • SSH access enabled/disabled
  • CLI inactivity timeout
  • CLI script/automation mode
  • CLI prompt and welcome message configuration
