Description: Fore Systems redundant port MIB providing configuration and status objects for hardware port redundancy on ForeRunner ATM switch modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Fore-Red-Port-MIB?

Fore-Red-Port-MIB is a FORE Systems proprietary MIB managing Series D port-card redundancy, a feature allowing a standby port card to take over for a failed active one. Its configuration table, keyed by board/module/port, records pending and current administrative mode, pending and current commit state, and operational state, alongside a commit-trigger action. As a hardware-status/configuration MIB it lets an administrator stage a redundancy configuration change (pending state) and then commit it, while confirming the operational state reflects the intended active/standby role. It is deployed on FORE Systems ATM switches with Series D redundant port cards. Engineers can download the Fore-Red-Port-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Fore-Red-Port-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • FORE Systems ATM switches with Series D redundant port cards

Monitoring Examples

An administrator sets redPortPendingAdminMode to stage a port-card redundancy change, confirms it looks correct, then triggers redPortCommit to activate it and checks redPortOperState to confirm the switchover succeeded.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port-card redundancy admin/operational/commit state
