Description: Broadcom FastPath MIB for Priority Flow Control (PFC/802.1Qbb) configuration enabling lossless Ethernet for data center fabrics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FASTPATH-PFC-MIB?
FASTPATH-PFC-MIB is a Broadcom private MIB for FastPath-based switches that manages Priority-based Flow Control (PFC, IEEE 802.1Qbb), a mechanism used to create lossless Ethernet traffic classes for converged data-center fabrics such as FCoE and RoCE. It exposes per-priority PFC enable/disable configuration and related flow-control parameters at the port/interface level, grouped under conformance objects such as agentPfcCfgGroup. Its monitoring role is configuration/software-state focused, verifying that lossless priority classes are correctly enabled on the right ports, since PFC misconfiguration can silently cause packet loss or congestion spreading across a fabric. It depends on IEEE 802.1Qbb concepts and standard IF-MIB interface indexing, and typically coexists with other 802.1 QoS MIBs. It is deployed on Broadcom FastPath-based data-center switches used in converged/lossless Ethernet fabrics. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the FASTPATH-PFC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FASTPATH-PFC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Broadcom FastPath-based data-center switches
Monitoring Examples
Only the conformance grouping object agentPfcCfgGroup was captured in the sample, so the specific per-port PFC configuration objects it groups cannot be confirmed, but an admin would typically poll per-priority PFC enable-state objects indexed by interface to see which of the eight 802.1p priorities have lossless flow control enabled on a given port. A priority expected to be PFC-enabled showing as disabled would explain unexpected frame loss for that traffic class during congestion.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-priority PFC enable/disable state
- PFC-enabled ports
- lossless traffic class configuration
