Description: Brocade Foundry Link Aggregation Group MIB providing LAG membership, LACP statistics, and trunk port management objects for FastIron switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FOUNDRY-LAG-MIB?
FOUNDRY-LAG-MIB is a Brocade (formerly Foundry Networks) enterprise MIB that manages Link Aggregation Group (LAG/trunk) configuration and statistics on FastIron and NetIron (MLX/XMR) switches, superseding the older FOUNDRY-SN-LAG-MIB starting with release 4.1.0. It exposes configuration data such as LAG membership, admin status, trunk type/threshold, and LACP timeout, alongside status data like primary port and active port count for each aggregate. As a monitoring tool it's used chiefly for software/configuration-state health of link aggregation — confirming a trunk group's admin status is up, its expected member ports are active, and LACP timers are configured as intended, which indirectly reflects link/interface hardware status. It works alongside the standard IETF IF-MIB (ifIndex references) and Foundry's own interface MIBs since LAG members are indexed by interface. It's deployed on Brocade/Foundry FastIron and MLX/XMR switches wherever multiple physical links are bonded into logical trunks for redundancy or bandwidth. Engineers can download the FOUNDRY-LAG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FOUNDRY-LAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Brocade (Foundry) FastIron switch
- Brocade NetIron MLX/XMR router/switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll fdryLinkAggregationGroupTable/fdryLinkAggregationGroupEntry, reading fdryLinkAggregationGroupAdminStatus and fdryLinkAggregationGroupPortCount for a given fdryLinkAggregationGroupName to confirm the trunk is enabled and all expected member ports (from fdryLinkAggregationGroupIfList) are participating. A drop in fdryLinkAggregationGroupPortCount below the configured member count, or a change in fdryLinkAggregationGroupPrimaryPort, would indicate a failed or flapping link within the LAG.
What Can Be Monitored
- LAG/trunk admin status
- LAG member port count
- primary port selection
- LACP timeout setting
- trunk type and threshold
