Description: Dell Force10 MIB providing interface extensions beyond standard IF-MIB, including port-channel and VLAN interface specifics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F10-IF-EXTENSION-MIB?

F10-IF-EXTENSION-MIB is a Dell Force10 proprietary MIB that augments the standard IETF IF-MIB with additional interface attributes specific to Dell Networking OS switches, such as extended details for port-channel (LAG) and VLAN logical interfaces. It generally exposes configuration and operational extensions layered on top of standard ifTable/ifXTable entries rather than introducing an entirely new data model. For monitoring purposes it is used to get a fuller software-level picture of interface configuration and status beyond the basic up/down state and counters that IF-MIB provides, helping confirm logical interfaces like port-channels and VLAN SVIs are configured and operating as expected. It is explicitly dependent on the standard IF-MIB (RFC 2863) which it extends, and likely also uses Dell's FORCE10-TC textual conventions. It is used in Dell Force10 switch/router deployments wherever port-channel bundling or VLAN interfaces need finer-grained SNMP visibility than IF-MIB alone provides. Engineers can download the F10-IF-EXTENSION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F10-IF-EXTENSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell Force10 (Dell EMC Networking) switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were captured for this MIB, so specific polling targets cannot be confirmed, but consistent with its role as an IF-MIB extension, an admin would expect to poll interface-extension objects indexed by ifIndex to see additional port-channel membership or VLAN-interface attributes not exposed by standard IF-MIB. A port-channel member interface not appearing in the expected extended table would indicate a LAG misconfiguration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port-channel (LAG) interface details
  • VLAN interface attributes
  • extended interface configuration state
