Category: Technology: Switching/L2, Vendor: Edgecore
Description: Manages configuration and operational status for ES1200 series fast Ethernet switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ES1200-MIB?
ES1200-MIB manages configuration and operational status for the ES1200 series of fast Ethernet switches, incorporating standard IEEE 802.1Q VLAN bridging objects for static multicast forwarding alongside vendor-specific switch management. It exposes configuration data around VLAN-aware multicast forwarding — which MAC addresses are statically forwarded to which ports within a VLAN context. While this particular module leans toward configuration data rather than fault/environmental counters, it is used as part of the switch's broader status/config MIB set for verifying multicast forwarding behavior is correctly provisioned. It notably depends on the IEEE 802.1Q Bridge MIB (dot1qMIB) conventions for its multicast table structure. It is deployed on ES1200 series fast Ethernet switches in small-to-midsize LAN environments requiring VLAN-aware multicast control, and administrators can download the ES1200-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ES1200-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- FORE Systems/Marconi ES1200 series fast Ethernet switch — Identified as FORE Systems (later Marconi) via enterprise OID 326 (token 'fore'), matching the sibling ES1000-MIB's Marconi/FORE attribution — not a generic unattributed switch as previously described.
Monitoring Examples
The dot1qStaticMulticastTable/dot1qStaticMulticastEntry rows are keyed by dot1qStaticMulticastAddress and dot1qStaticMulticastReceivePort, with dot1qStaticMulticastStaticEgressPorts, dot1qStaticMulticastForbiddenEgressPorts, and dot1qStaticMulticastStatus columns. An administrator would poll this table to confirm a multicast group's static forwarding entry sends traffic only to intended egress ports, catching a misconfigured forbidden-egress-port list that is silently blocking multicast delivery to a downstream device.
What Can Be Monitored
- static multicast MAC forwarding entries
- multicast receive port per VLAN
- static and forbidden egress port sets
- multicast entry row status

In other words, the address table doesn't learn any more new address. The aging timer is suspended when the address table is locked. As long as the table is locked, all of the frames are dropped if the destination can not be found in the address. |
| INT swL2DevCtrlHOLState | 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.20.1.2.2.2.25.2.1.1.4 | INTEGER | read-write | The object provides a way to prevent HOL (Head Of Line) blocking between ports. HOL protection may prevent forwarding a packet to a blocking port. The idea relies on the assumption that it is better to discard packets destined to blocking ports, then to let them consume more and more buffers in the input-port's Rx-counters because eventually these input ports may become totally blocked. The meanings of the values are: other(1) - this entry is currently in use but the conditions under which it will remain so are different from each of the following values. disabled(2) - HOL function disable for device. enabled(3) - HOL function enable for device. |
