What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-BULKSTATS-CAP?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-BULKSTATS-CAP is an Ericsson vendor MIB that does not itself define managed objects but instead declares AGENT-CAPABILITIES statements describing which parts of the companion ERICSSON-ROUTER-BULKSTATS-MIB are implemented on a given Ericsson SmartEdge (SE), Metro Ethernet (SM), or Smart Service Router (SSR) platform. It documents platform- and SEOS-version-specific support so a management station knows which bulk-statistics objects and groups it can safely poll on a particular router. Rather than exposing live hardware/software counters itself, it is a conformance/compatibility descriptor consumed during MIB compilation or capability negotiation. It explicitly depends on and cross-references the ERICSSON-ROUTER-BULKSTATS-MIB whose implementation it describes. It is used by NMS integrators validating SNMP feature support before deploying bulk-statistics polling against specific Ericsson router firmware/product families. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-BULKSTATS-CAP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
A management system or MIB compiler reads the AGENT-CAPABILITIES entries to determine, for a given SEOS release on an SE, SM, or SSR platform, whether the eriRouterBulkStatsLastTrfrTable and its transfer-status objects are supported before attempting to poll them. This prevents an NMS from generating unnecessary error responses when querying unsupported OIDs on older firmware. Because this MIB has no runtime sample objects of its own, its practical use is entirely in pre-deployment compatibility checks against the BULKSTATS-MIB object set.
