Description: Declares agent capabilities for Ericsson router alarm extension management on specific hardware and software releases.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-ALARM-EXT-CAP?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-ALARM-EXT-CAP is an Ericsson AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not an object-definition MIB, that documents which conformance groups of the companion ERICSSON-ROUTER-ALARM-EXT-MIB are implemented on specific Ericsson software releases. It defines two capability statements: eriRouterAlarmExtCap1 for SEOS 6.3, supporting the eriRouterAlarmModelGroup and eriRouterAlarmClearGroup, and eriRouterAlarmExtCap2 for IPOS 15.3, additionally supporting eriRouterAlarmActivesGroup and eriRouterAlarmActiveVariableGroup. It applies to the Ericsson SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER), SM Metro Ethernet Service Transport, and Smart Service Router (SSR) platform families named in its DESCRIPTION clause. Rather than exposing counters, it tells an NMS or MIB compiler which alarm-model, alarm-clear, and active-alarm objects the alarm-extension MIB actually implements on a given release, which makes it an essential ERICSSON-ROUTER-ALARM-EXT-CAP reference before scoping SNMP polling.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-ALARM-EXT-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge (MSER), SM Metro Ethernet Transport, and Smart Service Router (SSR) platform families

Monitoring Examples

An integrator checks eriRouterAlarmExtCap2 to confirm a router running IPOS 15.3 supports the active-alarm and active-alarm-variable groups before configuring polling of live alarm entries; on a router reporting only eriRouterAlarmExtCap1 (SEOS 6.3), those active-alarm objects would be absent and polling them would return no-such-object.

What Can Be Monitored

  • supported alarm conformance groups per software release
  • alarm model group support
  • alarm clear group support
  • active alarms group support
  • active alarm variable group support
