What Is ERI-ROOT-SMI?
ERI-ROOT-SMI is a Structure of Management Information module from Eastern Research Inc. (ERI), a maker of channel service unit/data service unit (CSU/DSU) and telecom access equipment, defining the company's top-level enterprise OID root (eriEnterpriseRoot) and sub-branches (virProducts, eriProducts, eriMibs) under which ERI's product-specific MIB modules register. It contains only naming/registration nodes and no runtime data objects, so it exposes no direct monitorable hardware or software status itself. All actual device health, interface, and performance data lives in the sibling ERI product MIBs that register beneath the eriProducts and eriMibs branches. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprises numbering scheme for its OID assignment. It would be deployed only as organizational infrastructure alongside the functional ERI CSU/DSU or telecom access product MIBs. The ERI-ROOT-SMI OID root itself is consulted mainly when tracing which enterprise branch a given ERI CSU/DSU product MIB's objects fall under.

With only registration/naming nodes (eriEnterpriseRoot, virProducts, eriProducts, eriMibs) and no data-bearing objects, this module offers no runtime monitoring scenario itself. Real monitoring of ERI telecom access equipment (e.g., CSU/DSU line status, alarms) would be performed via the specific product MIBs that register beneath the eriProducts and eriMibs branches.
