Description: Dell EqualLogic tag MIB providing classification and labeling objects for organizing storage volumes and resources.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EQLTAG-MIB?

This is a Dell EqualLogic enterprise MIB that lets administrators attach arbitrary classification tags (key/value labels) to objects on a PS-series storage array, such as volumes or other manageable resources, for organizational and grouping purposes. It exposes a general tag table (type, index, value, description) plus a tag-object mapping table that associates a tag with a specific tagged object via a pointer. Its monitoring relevance is primarily configuration-state rather than performance: an administrator can audit which tags exist and which storage objects/volumes they've been applied to, useful for verifying that automated provisioning or grouping tools have correctly tagged resources (e.g., by application, tenant, or environment). It also exposes notifications (eqltagNotifications) so tag additions/changes can be tracked as configuration events. It is a standalone Dell/EqualLogic enterprise MIB with no dependency on external standard MIBs. It is deployed on Dell EqualLogic PS-series iSCSI storage arrays for storage resource organization and management automation. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the EQLTAG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EQLTAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell EqualLogic PS-series storage array

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would enumerate eqlTagTable/eqlTagEntry (via eqlTagIndex, eqlTagType, eqlTagValue) to audit all tags defined on the array, then cross-reference eqlTagObjectTable/eqlTagObjectEntry's eqlTagObjectTaggedObjectPointer to confirm a specific volume has been tagged with the expected classification (e.g. environment=production). eqlTagRowStatus would be checked to confirm a tag entry is active rather than left in a not-ready state after a failed provisioning script run.

What Can Be Monitored

  • defined tag values and types
  • tag-to-object associations
  • tag row/creation status
  • tag notifications for configuration changes
