Category: Domain: Server Hardware, Domain: Storage, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Monitors HP NetServer Agent storage capacity and logical drive configuration on HP ProLiant server platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPNSASTORAGECAP-MIB?

HPNSASTORAGECAP-MIB is a proprietary HP NetServer Agent module in the same HP ProLiant/NetServer hardware-management family, focused on storage capacity and logical drive configuration. It exposes data about physical/logical drive arrangement, total and available storage capacity, and RAID/logical-drive configuration on the server. Its monitoring role centers on disk and storage subsystem status, letting administrators track available versus used capacity, logical drive layout, and drive health as part of overall server hardware monitoring alongside memory and other subsystems covered by sibling HPNSA MIBs. It has an implicit dependency on the HP NetServer Agent's overall storage/array controller model shared across HPNSA modules. Typical deployment is on legacy HP NetServer or early ProLiant servers running the HP Insight/NetServer Agent, where HPNSASTORAGECAP-MIB SNMP monitoring supports storage capacity planning and disk-health monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPNSASTORAGECAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP NetServer
  • HP ProLiant server

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll a logical-drive table (modeled as a logicalDriveTable/logicalDriveEntry) to track configured RAID level, total capacity, and free space per logical volume, catching a volume approaching full capacity before it impacts applications. A drop in reported available capacity or a change in logical drive status would flag a failed physical disk in a RAID set. No sample objects were provided, so these object names are inferred from the module's stated purpose.

What Can Be Monitored

  • total storage capacity
  • available/free capacity
  • logical drive configuration
  • RAID level per volume
  • drive status
