Description: ENTERASYS-MIRROR-CONFIG-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-MIRROR-CONFIG-MIB?

This MIB module belongs to Enterasys Networks' enterprise-specific SNMP tree and defines objects for configuring network traffic mirroring (port mirroring/SPAN) on Enterasys switches and routers. It exposes configuration data such as the maximum number of local and remote mirror sessions supported, mirror destination control table entries, and mirror destination port assignments. While primarily a configuration MIB, it also supports monitoring of mirroring session status and resource limits, letting an administrator confirm that a device's mirroring capacity (e.g., etsysMirrorSystemMaxLocalMirrors) is not exhausted and that mirror sessions are correctly provisioned and active via row status. It is a self-contained vendor-specific MIB, not built directly atop another standard MIB, though it follows general SNMP conventions for identifying source and destination ports. It is typically deployed in enterprise or campus network environments using Enterasys (later Extreme Networks) switches for troubleshooting and traffic analysis via mirrored/SPAN ports. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-MIRROR-CONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-MIRROR-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys Networks switches
  • Enterasys/Extreme Networks routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator can poll etsysMirrorDestinationControlTable to see configured mirror sessions, each identified by etsysMirrorDestinationControlIndex, along with etsysMirrorDestinationControlRowStatus to confirm a session is active. Checking etsysMirrorSystemMaxLocalMirrors and etsysMirrorSystemMaxRemoteMirrors against the number of provisioned entries reveals whether the switch is near its mirroring capacity, which would explain failures to add new SPAN sessions. The etsysMirrorDestinationPortTable identifies which physical ports are currently receiving mirrored traffic for a diagnostic capture.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mirror session configuration status
  • local/remote mirror capacity limits
  • mirror destination port assignments
  • mirror destination control group count
  • row status of mirror sessions
