Description: EnGenius wireless client MIB for monitoring associated wireless client stations including signal strength and data rates.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ENGENIUS-CLIENT-MIB?
ENGENIUS-CLIENT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from EnGenius for its Mesh wireless product line, used to monitor wireless client stations associated with an EnGenius access point or mesh node. It exposes tables of link-quality data between mesh nodes/clients (signal level and RSSI) and a client information table listing associated stations by ESSID and MAC address. This MIB is focused on wireless performance monitoring rather than internal device hardware health, letting an operator monitor the software-visible state of the wireless network, which clients are associated, to which network, and the signal quality of each link, to detect weak or dropping wireless connections. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB under EnGenius's private enterprise OID branch with no apparent dependency on standard wireless MIBs. It is typically deployed in EnGenius mesh Wi-Fi networks for monitoring link quality and client association across access points. Engineers can download the ENGENIUS-CLIENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENGENIUS-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- EnGenius Mesh wireless access point/node
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll signallevelTable/signallevelTableEntry, keyed by signallevelTableSource and signallevelTableDestination, to read signallevelTableRssi and detect a mesh link whose signal has degraded below a usable threshold. clientInfoTable/clientInfoTableEntry, indexed by clientInfoTableIndex, exposes clientInfoTableEssid and clientInfoTableMac to confirm which clients are associated to which SSID, useful for spotting an unexpected or dropped client association. The signallevelExecute object appears to trigger an on-demand signal-level measurement rather than returning cached data.
What Can Be Monitored
- mesh link signal level (RSSI)
- associated client MAC addresses
- client ESSID association
- on-demand signal measurement
