Category: Domain: VoIP/Telephony, Vendor: Eltex

Description: Manages Eltex TAU-8 analog telephone adapter (ATA) devices, providing configuration and status monitoring for VoIP gateway ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-TAU8?

ELTEX-TAU8 manages Eltex's TAU-4/TAU-8 analog telephone adapter (ATA) devices, which are VoIP gateway units bridging analog phone lines to IP telephony networks. It exposes configuration groups covering PBX behavior, network settings, and general system configuration, plus action objects for saving configuration and rebooting the device. In monitoring terms it primarily supports software/configuration status and remote control of the gateway rather than deep hardware telemetry: administrators can verify current network and PBX configuration and trigger a reboot or configuration save as part of managing device software state. It does not show strong dependency on other standard MIBs, functioning as a largely self-contained device-management module typical of embedded VoIP appliances. It is deployed in VoIP/telephony environments where TAU-8 ATAs connect legacy analog phone equipment or PBX trunks to a SIP/VoIP network. Engineers can download the ELTEX-TAU8 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-TAU8. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex TAU-4/TAU-8 analog telephone adapter (VoIP gateway)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect the pbxConfig, networkConfig, and systemConfig branches to confirm a TAU-8 unit's telephony, IP networking, and general system settings are correct after a provisioning change, then invoke actionSave to persist configuration or actionReboot (grouped under actionCommands) to apply changes requiring a restart. This is primarily a configuration-management and remote-control use case: an unexpected mismatch in networkConfig or pbxConfig values would explain call-quality or registration problems reported from the field.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PBX configuration state
  • network configuration state
  • system configuration state
  • pending save/reboot actions
