What Is EATON-OIDS?
EATON-OIDS is the root enterprise registration MIB for Eaton Corporation's SNMP-manageable power products, with roots tracing back through Exide Electronics and Powerware, defining the top-level OID branches - including the well-known "xups" tree - under which Eaton's actual UPS and power-management MIB modules are registered. It is itself a structural/registration module containing OID assignment nodes such as xupsMIB, xupsEnvironment, xupsIoMIB, and powerVision rather than live data objects. Even so, the subtree names strongly hint at its purpose: monitoring UPS hardware health such as battery status, output load, input/output voltage, and environmental sensors (temperature/humidity probes) that are exposed by the xups* MIBs registered beneath this tree. It underpins Eaton's whole family of UPS/PDU MIBs (commonly known as the XUPS-MIB suite) and is a prerequisite for compiling any of them, so any EATON-OIDS MIB compilation must succeed first or the dependent xups* modules will fail to load in an SNMP manager. It is deployed wherever Eaton, Powerware, or Exide-branded UPS and power distribution equipment is monitored via SNMP, typically in data centers and server rooms.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EATON-OIDS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Eaton 9PX Gen2 UPS — 5–11kW rack UPS with SiC components, up to 97.2% efficiency
- Eaton 93PX (2025) — successor to the discontinued Eaton BladeUPS for data centers
Monitoring Examples
EATON-OIDS itself only defines registration nodes (xupsMIB, xupsEnvironment, xupsIoMIB, powerVision) rather than runtime data; the actual battery-status, load, and environmental readings live in the XUPS-MIB module registered under this tree, so this module has no data of its own to poll.
