What Is Brocade-TC?

Brocade-TC is a vendor-private Brocade Communications MIB that defines the shared textual conventions (data types and enumerations) used across Brocade's family of Fibre Channel SAN switch and director MIB modules. It contains no managed objects, tables, or notifications of its own, serving purely as a common type library referenced by Brocade's functional MIBs. The Brocade-TC MIB itself has no operational data to poll, so administrators researching it are typically trying to understand a type referenced by another Brocade SAN MIB. It therefore has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status by itself; the actual switch health, port, and fabric status objects are defined in the companion Brocade MIBs (such as those covering FC ports, fabric, and system health) that import these conventions. Its dependency is structural and inward, underpinning essentially all other Brocade-specific MIB modules. It is used as a build-time/namespace dependency when managing Brocade Fibre Channel SAN switches and directors via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Brocade-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Broadcom Brocade X8 Director (2025) — Gen 8 128G Fibre Channel director, quantum-safe security
  • Broadcom Brocade G820 (2025) — Gen 8 128G 56-port mid-range/edge FC switch

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only shared textual conventions and has no MODULE-IDENTITY, tables, or runtime objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe for it in isolation. Its types are consumed by the operative Brocade switch and fabric MIBs that expose actual port, fabric, and system status. Administrators would not poll this module directly.
