Description: Manages Loopback Detection (LBD) to identify and handle loop conditions on D-Link switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DLINKSW-LBD-MIB?
DLINKSW-LBD-MIB is a D-Link switch MIB for Loopback Detection (LBD), a feature that detects Layer 2 network loops, for example from an accidental cable connecting two switch ports together, and takes action such as disabling the affected port to prevent a broadcast storm. It would expose per-port loop-detection enable state, detected-loop status, and any automatic port-disable action taken, though no sample objects were extracted for this module. This is a fault-detection MIB used to rapidly identify which port has a physical loop and confirm whether the switch's automatic mitigation (port shutdown) engaged, critical for diagnosing sudden network-wide slowdowns or outages. It is functionally the DLINKSW-family counterpart to DLINKPRIME-LBD-MIB and the 3100-series loop-detection features. It is deployed on any D-Link managed switch in environments prone to accidental patch-cable loops. Engineers can download the DLINKSW-LBD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINKSW-LBD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link managed switch
Monitoring Examples
No object names were provided in sample_objects for this MIB, so a concrete polling scenario with real identifiers cannot be given honestly. Conceptually, an administrator would check per-port loop-detected status and automatic shutdown state to diagnose a sudden broadcast storm caused by an accidental loop, but the exact object/table names are not confirmed here.
What Can Be Monitored
- loopback detection enable state
- per-port loop-detected status
- automatic port shutdown on loop
