What is npGsmStrength?

This read-only INTEGER (0-255) reports GSM signal strength, where 0-31 maps to roughly 0-100%, 99 means unknown or not applicable, and 255 means the value is currently being updated. An admin uses it to judge whether a poor cellular location is degrading the device's SMS or GSM connectivity. A reading in the low single digits would tell an admin the device's GSM antenna placement needs improvement to get reliable signal.
