Category: Device Management
Description: Defines base management objects for device inventory, status, and fundamental operation.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DEVBASE-MIB?
DEVBASE-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB defining base management objects common to a family of network devices referred to as BSU (Base Station Unit) and SU (Subscriber Unit), suggesting a fixed wireless or point-to-point/point-to-multipoint broadband access product line. It exposes fundamental device inventory and network-layer configuration such as product name, LAN IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and MAC address. Its monitoring role is basic device identification and reachability configuration status rather than deep performance metrics, letting an administrator confirm which product variant is deployed and verify its IP addressing is correctly set, both prerequisites for any further health monitoring. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no explicit dependency on other standard MIBs noted in the source. It is typically deployed on base station and subscriber wireless access units in a fixed-wireless broadband network, and administrators consult the DEVBASE-MIB MIB reference to identify these inventory and configuration objects.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DEVBASE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- fixed wireless Base Station Unit (BSU)
- fixed wireless Subscriber Unit (SU)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll aniDevProductName to confirm the exact hardware model of a BSU or SU unit, then check aniDevLanIpAddr, aniDevLanSubnetMask, and aniDevDefaultGateway to verify the unit's management IP configuration is as expected. aniDevMacAddr provides the hardware address used to cross-reference the unit against DHCP leases or a network inventory system. A mismatch between the expected and reported aniDevLanIpAddr would explain why a unit is unreachable from the NMS.
What Can Be Monitored
- product name/model
- LAN IP address
- subnet mask
- default gateway
- MAC address
