What Is DELL-NETWORKING-TC?
DELL-NETWORKING-TC is a vendor textual-conventions MIB that defines shared data types used across the Dell Networking OS (formerly Force10) family of MIB modules. Like other TC modules, it does not itself expose monitorable runtime objects; it standardizes types referenced by other Dell Networking MIBs covering interfaces, hardware, and system status. Its relevance to hardware/software status monitoring is indirect — actual temperature, power supply, fan, CPU, and interface counters are exposed in companion Dell Networking MIBs that import these conventions. This module is explicitly a dependency required by other Dell Networking OS MIBs to parse and display values consistently. It is deployed as part of the SNMP MIB suite bundled with Dell Networking (Force10-based) switches and routers in enterprise/data-center networks. When troubleshooting an unfamiliar SNMP value from a Dell Networking switch, an engineer can trace the underlying DELL-NETWORKING-TC OID back to its type definition to understand how the raw value should be interpreted.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DELL-NETWORKING-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell PowerSwitch S5248F-ON — current S-Series ToR switch running Dell's OS10 networking software, successor to the Force10-based Dell Networking line
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only textual conventions and contains no runtime objects to poll directly; real monitoring of Dell Networking switches (e.g., temperature, fan, power supply, or interface status) is performed via companion Dell Networking MIBs that import these type definitions.
