Description: Defines product identifiers and OID assignments for Dell Networking switch product lines.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DELL-NETWORKING-PRODUCTS-MIB?
DELL-NETWORKING-PRODUCTS-MIB is a Dell vendor MIB that solely defines the sysObjectID product identifier OID tree for Dell's networking switch product lines, rather than exposing operational data itself. It belongs to Dell's enterprise networking (switch/router) product family and is used purely as a product-identification/registration MIB. Because it contains no operational objects, it is not itself used to monitor hardware or software status directly, but it underpins monitoring tools by letting them map a device's sysObjectID value to a specific Dell switch model so the correct feature-specific MIBs can be selected for polling uptime, CPU/memory, and other health metrics. It has an implicit dependency on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/MIB-II sysObjectID object, since its entire purpose is populating that value's enterprise subtree. It is used across Dell PowerSwitch/Force10-derived switch deployments in data centers and campus networks wherever device auto-identification is needed. Engineers can download the DELL-NETWORKING-PRODUCTS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DELL-NETWORKING-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell Networking / PowerSwitch series switches
Monitoring Examples
A network management system doing SNMP discovery would read sysObjectID.0 from a newly discovered switch and match the returned OID against the values defined in this MIB to determine the exact Dell PowerSwitch model. That identification then drives which vendor-specific MIB (such as a Dell chassis or OS10 MIB) the NMS loads to continue polling temperature, fan, and power-supply status. This MIB itself carries no live counters, so its monitoring value is entirely in enabling correct model-based polling downstream.
What Can Be Monitored
- device model/product identification (sysObjectID)
- product line OID mapping
