Description: Covers configuration of local CLI access, including access restrictions, on Dell network devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Dell-rlLcli-MIB?
This is a Dell/RoamAbout-lineage (rl-prefixed, from the Dell MTS/NetVanta-style networking software family) private enterprise MIB governing the local command-line interface (CLI) of the switch or router. It exposes configuration-oriented data: CLI session timeout, command history buffering, and a per-command authorization table that assigns access levels and context names to individual CLI commands. Rather than hardware health, its monitoring value is administrative and security-oriented, letting an operator confirm CLI timeout settings, verify history retention size, and audit which command levels/contexts are assigned to sensitive commands to catch unauthorized privilege changes. It has no apparent hard dependency beyond standard SNMPv2-SMI/enterprise conventions used across the Dell MTS MIB family. It is typically deployed in configuration-management and security-auditing tooling for Dell enterprise switches/routers rather than in performance dashboards. Engineers can download the Dell-rlLcli-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Dell-rlLcli-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Dell enterprise switch/router (MTS-based)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll rlLCliTimeout and rlLCliHistoryEnable/rlLCliHistorySize to confirm CLI idle-timeout and history-buffer policy is applied consistently across a fleet. Walking rlLcliCommandLevelTable (indexed by rlLcliCommandLevelCommandName and rlLcliCommandLevelContextName) reveals the configured rlLcliCommandLevelCommandLevel and rlLcliCommandLevelActionMode for each command, letting the admin flag any command whose access level was unexpectedly lowered. rlLcliCommandLevelStatus (a RowStatus) shows whether a given command-level entry is active, useful for detecting stale or unintentionally created rules.
What Can Be Monitored
- CLI session timeout
- CLI history enable/size
- per-command access level
- command context assignment
- command-level row status
