Category: Products/Registration

Description: Registers the OID sub-tree for Lucent Cajun switch-specific management modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Cajun-Switch-ROOT?

Cajun-Switch-ROOT is the top-level OID registration module for Lucent Technologies' (later Avaya) Cajun family of Ethernet switches, specifically the P220, P550, P660, and P880 product lines. Rather than defining monitorable objects itself, it establishes the enterprise sub-tree architecture (products, mibs, cajunSwitch, cajunSwitchProduct, cajunAgentGen, cajunAgentCommunity) under which all Cajun switch-specific management modules are organized. As a purely structural/registration module it does not itself expose runtime status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load, but it anchors the OID hierarchy that the vendor-specific Cajun MIBs use to report actual hardware and software status. It has no protocol dependency beyond the standard SNMP SMI enterprise-OID registration conventions used to organize private branches. It is relevant to any network management deployment that manages legacy Lucent/Avaya Cajun Ethernet switches via SNMP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Cajun-Switch-ROOT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Cajun-Switch-ROOT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent/Avaya Cajun P220/P550/P660/P880 Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

This module is purely an organizational OID tree rather than a data source: nodes like cajunSwitch, cajunSwitchProduct, cajunAgentGen, and cajunAgentCommunity define where product-specific and agent-configuration MIBs attach in the hierarchy. It contains no pollable counters or status objects of its own. Actual monitoring (interface status, agent statistics, etc.) is performed through the separate Cajun product MIBs registered beneath this root.
