Category: Switch Management

Description: Manages serial port and network configuration parameters on Cyclades ACS console servers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CYCLADES-ACS-CONF-MIB?

CYCLADES-ACS-CONF-MIB is a vendor MIB for Cyclades (later Avocent/Vertiv) ACS/TS console/terminal server appliances, defining configuration objects for the device's identity and network settings. It exposes objects such as host name, console banner/message-of-the-day text, and Ethernet interface configuration including DHCP client state, IP address/mask, MTU, a secondary IP address, and DNS resolver settings. While primarily a configuration MIB, the network settings it exposes let an admin verify the console server's own management-network configuration and reachability state, which matters because these devices provide out-of-band access to racks of other equipment and their own software/network status must be trustworthy. There is no explicit dependency on other standard MIBs evident from the objects shown, though it likely coexists with standard system-group/IF-MIB objects on the device. It is deployed in data centers/NOCs where Cyclades ACS console servers provide serial/out-of-band management access to other equipment, where CYCLADES-ACS-CONF-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms the console server's own network configuration stays reachable.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYCLADES-ACS-CONF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cyclades ACS/TS console server (serial/terminal server appliance)

Monitoring Examples

cyHostName and cyConsoleBanner/cyMotd expose the device's identity and login banner text, useful for confirming the unit is correctly provisioned. cyEthDhcpc, cyEthIPaddr, and cyEthIPmask reveal whether the console server's management Ethernet interface obtained its address via DHCP or static configuration - an unexpected cyEthDhcpc state or a wrong cyEthIPaddr would explain why the unit became unreachable. cyDNSpriserv and cyResolverOrder let an admin confirm DNS resolution settings, and cyMultipleIP/cyEthIPaddr2 show whether a secondary IP is configured for redundant management access.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hostname and banner configuration
  • DHCP client state
  • primary/secondary IP address and mask
  • MTU setting
  • DNS resolver configuration
