Description: Tracks configuration and performance of the MS64 multiplexer/switch module within Cyan optical chassis.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CYAN-MS64-MIB?
CYAN-MS64-MIB is a Cyan Inc. proprietary MIB covering the Multiplex Section (MS) layer of OC-192/STM-64 optical line interfaces on Cyan packet-optical transport equipment. It exposes per-channel configuration and state such as shelf/module/MS64/channel identity, whether a module is physically inserted and accepted by the system, administrative state, operational state, and an operational-state qualifier, plus soak timing for automatic in-service transitions. It is used to monitor hardware presence (inserted/accepted flags) and operational health of high-speed OC-192/STM-64 line cards, surfacing failures such as a card reporting operationally down or a qualifier indicating a degraded condition even though admin state is up. It is closely tied to underlying SONET/SDH transmission standards (OC-192/STM-64) and typically complements other Cyan optical-layer MIBs covering the physical/regenerator and path layers. It is deployed in metro/long-haul optical transport networks using Cyan (Ciena) multiplexing shelves. Engineers can download the CYAN-MS64-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-MS64-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cyan/Ciena packet-optical transport chassis
- OC-192/STM-64 optical line/multiplexer cards
Monitoring Examples
An admin queries cyanMS64Table/cyanMS64Entry indexed by cyanMS64ShelfId, cyanMS64ModuleId, and cyanMS64MS64Id to check cyanMS64Inserted and cyanMS64Accepted, confirming a line card is physically present and recognized by the shelf controller. Comparing cyanMS64AdminState against cyanMS64OperState and cyanMS64OperStateQual reveals mismatches, such as a channel administratively enabled but operationally degraded. cyanMS64AutoinserviceSoakTimeSec is tracked after insertion to determine when a newly accepted module completes its soak period and is trusted for live OC-192/STM-64 traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- module inserted/accepted status
- administrative state
- operational state and qualifier
- auto-inservice soak timer
- per-channel identity
