Description: MIB for VRRP virtual router configuration on CX product-line routers, defining priority, advertisement interval, and preemption per virtual router ID

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXG-IPVRRP-MIB?

CXG-IPVRRP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for CX-line routers that configures VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) virtual routers, including priority, advertisement interval, and preemption behavior per virtual router ID. It is a configuration-focused MIB for first-hop router redundancy rather than a broad hardware telemetry module. Its role in monitoring device status is to confirm the redundancy configuration (which router is master, at what priority, and how often advertisements are sent) is correctly and consistently applied across a VRRP pair, which is critical to diagnosing failover problems or unexpected mastership changes. It builds directly on the standard VRRP concept defined in IETF RFC 3768/2787-style VRRP MIBs, adapting it to the CX platform's object naming. It is typically deployed in pairs of CX routers providing redundant default-gateway service at enterprise or telco access edges. Engineers can download the CXG-IPVRRP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXG-IPVRRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra ConvertedX (CX) router

Monitoring Examples

Since no sample objects were provided, a typical deployment would still involve polling per-virtual-router objects analogous to priority, advertisement interval, and preemption mode to confirm both routers in a VRRP pair agree on configuration; a mismatch in advertisement interval or priority is a common cause of split-brain or flapping mastership. This module is used purely as a redundancy-configuration audit tool rather than a performance or environmental monitoring feed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • virtual router priority
  • advertisement interval
  • preemption setting
  • virtual router ID assignment
