Category: Routing Protocols, Vendor: Aastra

Description: Configures Aastra IP stack parameters including IP addresses, routing, and IP interface management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXCFG-IP-MIB?

CXCFG-IP-MIB is a vendor-specific Aastra/ConvertedX (CX) MIB that manages IP stack configuration on CX-series WAN access and routing equipment, including IP addressing, routing protocol enablement, and general IP interface parameters. Its data is primarily configuration-oriented rather than counter-oriented, covering whether RIP and RIP II are enabled and how the device's IP stack behaves. For hardware/software status monitoring it is used mainly to confirm the routing protocol configuration state (RIP/RIP II enabled or disabled) matches intent, which helps diagnose routing adjacency or connectivity problems traceable to a misconfigured IP stack. It complements standard IETF IP and routing MIBs (e.g., RFC1213-MIB, RIPv2 MIB) by adding Aastra-specific configuration knobs on top of them. It is typically deployed on Aastra CX WAN routers/multiplexers at enterprise branch or telco access sites, where CXCFG-IP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm RIP configuration matches intended routing behavior.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXCFG-IP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra ConvertedX (CX) WAN router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would read cxCfgIpRIP and cxCfgRIPII to confirm whether RIP version 1 or RIP II is active on the device, which explains why routes are or are not being learned from neighboring routers. cxCfgIpMibLevel would be checked first to determine which revision of the IP configuration object set the running firmware exposes. Because sample objects are sparse, this MIB is mostly used as a configuration audit tool rather than for continuous performance polling.

What Can Be Monitored
