Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Monitors Cabletron front panel LED indicators, button states, and visual alarm status for chassis management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-FRONTPANEL-MIB?

CTRON-FRONTPANEL-MIB is a Cabletron Systems proprietary MIB managing front-panel redundancy on Cabletron chassis hardware, a feature providing a backup management path via the chassis front panel. It exposes a reset control, polling interval and retry-count parameters, the currently active redundant port, an enable flag, and a table of addresses eligible for the redundancy scheme. As a configuration/hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm front-panel redundancy is enabled and identify which port is currently active before relying on it during a primary-path failure. It is deployed on Cabletron chassis hardware supporting front-panel management redundancy. Engineers can download the CTRON-FRONTPANEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-FRONTPANEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron Systems chassis hardware with front-panel management redundancy

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ctFpRedundEnable and ctFpRedundActivePort to confirm front-panel redundancy is armed and identify which port would take over management access if the primary path failed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • front-panel redundancy enable state and active port
