Category: Vendor: Conel

Description: Monitors cellular mobile WAN link status, signal strength, and data counters on Conel routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CONEL-MOBILE-MIB?

CONEL-MOBILE-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Conel (now part of Advantech/ICR) that monitors the cellular WAN interface on Conel's industrial routers, exposing radio-technology, signal, and session data under the private mobile subtree. Key objects include mobileTechnology (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA/LTE/CDMA/EVDO), mobileSignalStrength, mobileSignalQuality, mobileCSQ, mobileRegistration (idle/search/denied/home/foreign), mobilePLMN, mobileCell, mobileOperator, and connection counters mobileConnect/mobileDisconnect/mobileUpTime, plus a mobileToday subtree of daily RX/TX byte counters (mobileTodayRxPri, mobileTodayTxSec). It is primarily a status/telemetry MIB rather than a configuration MIB, giving operators visibility into cellular backhaul health — signal quality, registration state, and neighbor-cell channels (mobileChannelN1-N5) — which is important for diagnosing flaky or dropped mobile WAN links. It depends on standard SMI types (IpAddress, TimeTicks, Counter32) rather than any Conel-specific textual conventions, and it is deployed on Conel/ICR cellular routers used for remote or M2M connectivity where a wired WAN is unavailable, with the CONEL-MOBILE-MIB SNMP monitoring data typically polled by a central NMS watching for link-quality degradation.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CONEL-MOBILE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Conel (ICR/Advantech) cellular M2M routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls mobileSignalStrength and mobileRegistration on a remote Conel router to confirm the cellular modem is registered 'home' with adequate signal, watching mobileConnect/mobileDisconnect counters for churn; a falling mobileSignalStrength combined with mobileRegistration showing 'search' or 'denied' would indicate the site is losing cellular WAN connectivity.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mobile technology/radio type
  • signal strength and quality (CSQ)
  • network registration state
  • serving and neighbor cell/channel data
  • connect/disconnect counters and uptime
  • daily RX/TX traffic counters
