Description: Defines the Structure of Management Information OID hierarchy for Clavister security product MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CLAVISTER-SMI?
CLAVISTER-SMI is Clavister's Structure-of-Management-Information (SMI) MIB, which defines the top-level enterprise OID hierarchy and registration points (such as clavisterOS, clavisterOSTrap, clavisterOSStats, and clavisterReg) under which Clavister's actual data-bearing MIBs for its security appliances are organized. As an SMI/registration module it does not itself expose polled runtime data; instead it establishes the OID namespace and object-identity anchors that other Clavister MIBs reference for traps and statistics branches. It is therefore not directly useful for monitoring hardware or software status on its own, but it underpins every other Clavister MIB's ability to be loaded and correctly positioned in a management station's OID tree. It is a foundational dependency for any Clavister-specific MIB (e.g., firewall/UTM statistics or trap MIBs) rather than a standard it depends on. It is used wherever Clavister firewall/security appliances are managed via SNMP, as the root definition file that must be compiled before other Clavister MIBs. Engineers can download the CLAVISTER-SMI file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CLAVISTER-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module is a conformance/registration MIB defining OID branches like clavisterOSTrapInfo and clavisterOSStats rather than runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly beyond confirming a management station has correctly compiled it so that dependent Clavister MIBs (which use these OID branches for actual trap and statistics data) resolve properly. Administrators would not poll this MIB directly for status; they would instead load it as a prerequisite before working with other Clavister MIBs that reference clavisterOS and clavisterReg.
