Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSB-TUNNEL-MIB?
CISCOSB-TUNNEL-MIB (module identity rlTunnel) is a Cisco Small Business vendor-specific MIB that extends the standard TUNNEL-MIB with private configuration objects for tunnel interfaces on Cisco Small Business switches. Its rlTunnelIfTable AUGMENTS the standard tunnelIfEntry with an explicit encapsulation-method object (rlTunnelIfEncapsMethod, an IANAtunnelType) and local-address-source selection (rlTunnelIfLocalAddressSource: configured/auto/interface), while a deprecated legacy block (rlTunnelIsatapStatus, rlTunnelIsatapDnsHostName, rlTunnelIsatapRobustness) and its current replacement (rlTunnelIsatapConfTable, rlTunnelIsatapPrlTable) manage ISATAP (Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol) IPv6-over-IPv4 tunnels, including a potential-router-list table (rlTunnelIsatapPrlEntry: priority, address, active status) discovered via Router Advertisements. This makes it useful for monitoring IPv6-in-IPv4 tunnel configuration and ISATAP router-discovery state — confirming a device has an active, up-to-date router in its potential-router list — on small-business switches transitioning to IPv6. It depends on the standard TUNNEL-MIB (tunnelIfEntry) and IANAifType-MIB (IANAtunnelType) it augments, plus IF-MIB (ifIndex), and network admins configuring these tunnels can check the CISCOSB-TUNNEL-MIB MIB Browser output for current ISATAP status.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business switches (rlTunnel/switch001 product family)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls rlTunnelIsatapPrlTable for a given rlTunnelIsatapPrlIfIndex and reviews rlTunnelIsatapPrlIsActive per priority entry; if all entries report false(2), meaning no potential router has an up-to-date Router Advertisement, the ISATAP tunnel has effectively lost its IPv6 uplink despite the tunnel interface remaining administratively up.
What Can Be Monitored
- tunnel encapsulation method and local-address-source configuration
- ISATAP DNS hostname and row status
- ISATAP potential-router-list entries and priority
- ISATAP potential-router active/stale status
- deprecated legacy ISATAP status/robustness/interval objects
