Description: Manages Telnet/SSH back-interface (TBI) configuration for out-of-band management on Cisco Small Business switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSB-TBI-MIB?
CISCOSB-TBI-MIB (Time-Based Infrastructure) is a Cisco Small Business private MIB; despite a short description elsewhere referencing Telnet/SSH back-interface, the module content itself defines a generic time-range scheduling infrastructure used to activate other switch features only during configured time windows. It exposes configuration data for named time ranges, including absolute start/end date-times, and periodic (recurring weekly) schedules with weekday lists and daily start times, plus a row/active status per entry. Its main monitorable software-status value is the active-status flag on each time range entry, which tells an administrator in real time whether a given time-based rule (e.g., an ACL, port security, or other feature tied to that time range) is currently in effect. It has no dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2 row-status and textual-convention infrastructure, and it is meant to be referenced by other feature MIBs on the switch that need time-based activation. It's typically deployed on Cisco Small Business (SG/SF series) switches where administrators schedule features like access lists or port controls to apply only during business hours or other defined windows. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-TBI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-TBI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business switch (SG/SF series)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator configures rlTBITimeRangeTable/rlTBITimeRangeEntry with a name, rlTBITimeRangeAbsoluteStart and rlTBITimeRangeAbsoluteEnd, or instead uses rlTBIPeriodicTable with rlTBIPeriodicWeekDayList and rlTBIPeriodicStart for a recurring schedule. Polling rlTBITimeRangeActiveStatus reveals whether the named time range is currently active, which is useful for confirming that a time-dependent feature (such as an ACL) turned on or off exactly when expected. rlTBITimeRangeRowStatus shows whether an entry is properly provisioned (active) or still being created/destroyed.
What Can Be Monitored
- time range active status
- time range absolute start/end
- periodic weekday schedule
- periodic daily start time
- time range row status
