Category: SNMP Framework, Vendor: Cisco Devices

Description: Defines agent capability statements for Cisco VoIP lawful intercept (CALEA) tap functionality.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-VOIP-TAP-CAPABILITY?

This is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting which portions of the CISCO-VOIP-TAP-MIB, used for lawful-intercept (CALEA) tapping of VoIP call streams, are actually implemented on a given Cisco platform and software release. Like other capabilities statements, it contains no runtime data objects of its own; it only declares supported groups, variations, and access restrictions for the underlying lawful-intercept MIB. As such it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its purpose is purely to inform management systems what lawful-intercept tap functionality is available. It is entirely dependent on, and meaningless without, the CISCO-VOIP-TAP-MIB it profiles. It is found in Cisco voice gateway/router software bundles supporting CALEA-compliant lawful intercept, where the CISCO-VOIP-TAP-CAPABILITY MIB is referenced by compliance/NMS tooling rather than polled for live status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOIP-TAP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco voice gateway/router (CALEA lawful-intercept capable)
  • Cisco ASR 1000 series routers (VoIP lawful-intercept tap capability)

Monitoring Examples

This module has no sample objects because it is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES/conformance module for CISCO-VOIP-TAP-MIB, not a source of runtime monitoring data; it only declares which lawful-intercept tap features are implemented, so no monitoring scenario can be described honestly.
