Organization: Cisco Systems, Inc.

Last Updated: 2005-12-22

Category: Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: Cisco Devices

Description: Manages Cisco voice application features including interactive voice response and auto-attendant services.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-VOICE-APPS-MIB?

The CISCO-VOICE-APPS-MIB manages Cisco voice application software such as IVR scripts and auto-attendant workflows on Cisco voice gateways, working in conjunction with SYSAPPL-MIB for process-level status and provisioning. It exposes data on installed workflow instances, their names and script locators, module names, process identifiers, and module failure/alarm information. Its monitoring emphasis is squarely on software health: it tracks whether a voice application module or process is running, records module failure names when a workflow crashes, and reports alarm severity so failures generate SNMP notifications, giving direct visibility into voice application process status. It has an explicit, stated dependency on SYSAPPL-MIB for the broader process management framework. It is deployed on Cisco IOS voice gateway routers running IVR, auto-attendant, or other embedded voice application scripts. Engineers can download the CISCO-VOICE-APPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOICE-APPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco voice gateway routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls cvaWorkflowInstallTable/cvaWorkflowInstallEntry to see which cvaWorkflowInstallName scripts are installed and whether cvaWorkflowInstallEnable is set; monitoring cvaModuleName together with cvaProcessId and cvaModuleFailureName detects a crashed IVR workflow process, while checking cvaAlarmSeverity and cvaNotificationEnable confirms traps will fire when a workflow fails — revealing, for example, an auto-attendant script that has stopped responding to callers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed voice application/workflow status
  • workflow enable state
  • voice application process ID
  • module failure name/status
  • alarm severity for application failures
