All MIBs › CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-CAPABILITY
Organization: Cisco Systems, Inc.
Last Updated: 2012-01-09
Category: SNMP Framework, Vendor: Cisco Devices
Description: Defines agent capability statements for Cisco VLAN translation (VLAN ID mapping) feature.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-CAPABILITY?
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a data-bearing MIB — it documents which object groups of the companion CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-MIB (VLAN ID translation/mapping on trunk ports) a given Cisco device and software release implements. It belongs to Cisco's VLAN/Layer 2 switching technology area but exposes no counters, sensors, or configuration objects of its own. Because it is purely a compliance statement, it has no direct role in hardware or software status monitoring; instead it tells network management stations what feature support to expect from a device. It has an inherent, explicit dependency on CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-MIB, whose objects and groups it maps to specific product releases. It is deployed as part of the MIB support files shipped with Cisco switch software, where the CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-CAPABILITY reference lets NMS tools determine feature/version compliance.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects — it maps specific Cisco software/hardware releases to the OBJECT-GROUPs and NOTIFICATION-GROUPs of CISCO-VLAN-TRANSLATION-MIB that they support, so there is no live monitoring scenario to describe here, only a compatibility statement consumed by NMS tooling.
