Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB implementation on various Cisco IOS and NX-OS platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-HOST-RESOURCES-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-HOST-RESOURCES-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting which objects of the standard IETF HOST-RESOURCES-MIB (RFC 2790) are implemented across various Cisco IOS and NX-OS platforms. It defines no objects of its own; it is a conformance statement layered on top of the vendor-neutral HOST-RESOURCES-MIB, which covers host storage, running processes, installed software, and device resource utilization. It does not directly monitor hardware or software status, but it governs whether/how a given Cisco platform's HOST-RESOURCES-MIB implementation can be relied on for that purpose (e.g., process table, storage, and CPU load monitoring). It is entirely dependent on the IETF HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. It is used in Cisco's published MIB support matrices for IOS and NX-OS devices, serving as a CISCO-HOST-RESOURCES-CAPABILITY reference for which HOST-RESOURCES-MIB objects a given platform actually supports.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-HOST-RESOURCES-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS/NX-OS router or switch
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects — no sample objects are given — so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it is used only to check which HOST-RESOURCES-MIB objects (e.g., process, storage, or software-inventory tables) a specific Cisco platform actually supports.
