Module: CISCO-RTTMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-RTTMON-MIB::rttMonEchoAdminLSPTTL

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.42.1.2.2.1.35

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description:

This object represents the TTL setting for MPLS echo request packets. For ping operation this represents the TTL value to be set in the echo request packet. For trace operation it represent the maximum ttl value that can be set in the echo request packets starting with TTL=1.

For 'echo' based on mplsLspPingAppl the default TTL will be set to 255, and for 'pathEcho' based on mplsLspPingAppl the default will be set to 30.

Note: This object cannot be set to the value of 0. The default value of 0 signifies the default TTL values to be used for 'echo' and 'pathEcho' based on 'mplsLspPingAppl'.

What is rttMonEchoAdminLSPTTL?

This object configures the Time-To-Live (TTL) value inserted into MPLS echo request packets used by the Cisco IP SLA tool to measure path performance and detect network faults. For ping operations, the TTL controls how many hops the probe can traverse; for traceroute operations, TTL is incremented to discover each hop along the path. Operators set this value to limit the probe range or to match the TTL characteristics of actual customer traffic.
