Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment, SNMP Framework
Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for Cisco Enhanced Memory Pool MIB on IOS and NX-OS platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-CAPABILITY?
This is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which objects and groups of CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB (used for monitoring memory pool utilization on IOS and NX-OS platforms) are implemented by the SNMP agent on a given Cisco device. It defines no runtime data objects of its own; it is purely a conformance statement enumerating supported features of the referenced memory-pool MIB for compliance/capability negotiation by management systems. Because it has no monitorable objects, it plays no direct role in exposing memory, CPU, or hardware status, that functionality lives in CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB itself, which this module merely declares support for. It is explicitly dependent on CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB, the memory-pool monitoring MIB it describes agent conformance for. It is used internally during SNMP agent capability discovery on Cisco IOS and NX-OS devices, not for direct operational polling. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers/switches running IOS or NX-OS
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects; the sample_objects list is empty because it defines only capability statements, not pollable memory statistics. Actual memory pool utilization monitoring is performed via CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB, which this module declares agent support for.
