Description: Extends standard optical interface MIB with Cisco-specific attributes for optical transceiver and port management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-OPTICAL-IF-EXTN-MIB?

CISCO-OPTICAL-IF-EXTN-MIB is a Cisco Systems, Inc. proprietary MIB extending the standard IF-MIB with optical-interface (DWDM transceiver) detail. Its objects cover an interface-type extension table, a wavelength table (DWDM frequency), a DWDM channel-group table (min frequency, spacing, bitmap logic/bitmap), and a transceiver table (laser admin/operational status, min laser frequency, frequency spacing/bitmap, forward-laser-control, laser-safety-control, LSC protocol/restart mode/manual restart/pulse length). As a configuration/hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a DWDM transceiver's tuned frequency and laser-safety-control state on Cisco optical equipment. It is deployed on Cisco Systems DWDM/optical-interface equipment. Engineers can download the CISCO-OPTICAL-IF-EXTN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-OPTICAL-IF-EXTN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems DWDM/optical-interface equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks coIfXcvrLaserOperStatus and coIfDwdmFrequency to confirm a DWDM transceiver is lasing at its assigned frequency on Cisco optical equipment.

What Can Be Monitored
