Category: Cisco Devices, VPN and Security

Description: Manages Multicast VPN (MVPN) including MDT tunnels, PIM configuration, and multicast routing in VPN contexts.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-MVPN-MIB?

CISCO-MVPN-MIB is a Cisco Systems, Inc. proprietary MIB (built on MPLS-VPN-MIB, per IETF draft-rosen-vpn-mcast) managing Multicast VPN (MVPN) configuration, used alongside the L3VPN-MPLS-VPN-MIB. Its objects cover the number of multicast VRFs, a notification-enable flag, a generic table (operational-status-change, change time, associated interfaces, row status), an MDT (Multicast Distribution Tree)-default table (address type/address, encapsulation type, row status), an MDT-data table (data-range address type/address, wildcard type/bits, threshold, row status), and an Mroute-MDT table linking multicast routes to their MVRF group address. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm MDT group assignment and multicast-VRF association on a Cisco PE router running Multicast VPN. It is deployed on Cisco Systems MPLS VPN provider-edge routers. Engineers can download the CISCO-MVPN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MVPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems MPLS VPN provider-edge routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ciscoMvpnMdtDefaultAddress and ciscoMvpnGenAssociatedInterfaces to confirm the default MDT group assigned to a multicast VRF on a Cisco PE router.

What Can Be Monitored
