Category: Cisco Devices, SNMP Framework, VPN and Security

Description: Declares agent capability for the Cisco IPsec signaling (IKE) management MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module that declares which objects and features of the companion CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-MIB a particular Cisco device or IOS release actually implements. As a capabilities statement it does not itself expose any runtime interface, environmental, performance, or fault data; its sole purpose is to document implementation conformance for network management systems. It therefore has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status of a device, serving instead as metadata describing feature support. It is explicitly and directly dependent on CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-MIB, the base MIB whose IKE/IPsec signaling management objects it describes support for. It is used by NMS tooling during MIB compilation and capability negotiation, typically on Cisco routers and VPN gateways running IPsec/IKE signaling, with the CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-CAPABILITY MIB itself serving purely as that conformance reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco router/VPN gateway (IPsec/IKE capable)

Monitoring Examples

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only records which CISCO-IPSEC-SIGNALING-MIB objects the device supports.
