Description: Provides management objects for MAC address pool management used in vNIC configuration on Cisco UCS/Firepower service profiles.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-MACPOOL-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-MACPOOL-MIB manages MAC address pools used to automatically assign MAC addresses to virtual NICs (vNICs) defined in Cisco UCS/Firepower service profiles. It exposes tables of individual pool addresses and address blocks, tracking assignment status and the owning entity for each address. The MIB supports monitoring software/configuration status by exposing global assigned versus defined address counts, allowing administrators to detect MAC pool exhaustion before new vNICs or service profiles fail to receive an address. It is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower management information model, sharing DN/RN addressing conventions with sibling Firepower MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects that provision vNIC identities for blade/rack servers. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-MACPOOL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-MACPOOL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfprMacpoolAddrTable, reading cfprMacpoolAddrAssigned and cfprMacpoolAddrAssignedToDn to identify which vNIC or service profile consumed a given MAC address, while comparing cfprMacpoolAddrGlobalAssignedCnt to cfprMacpoolAddrGlobalDefinedCnt across cfprMacpoolBlockTable reveals how close the pool is to exhaustion. A pool nearing full assignment would warn an administrator to add additional MAC blocks before new server provisioning fails.

What Can Be Monitored

  • assigned vs defined MAC address counts
  • MAC address assignment target
  • pool block ranges
  • address ownership
