Category: Cisco Devices, SNA and Legacy Protocols

Description: Monitors LAN emulation functions on the Cisco Channel Interface Processor, providing statistics for LAN-attached mainframe traffic.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-CIPLAN-MIB?

CISCO-CIPLAN-MIB is a Cisco Systems (Cisco/IBM engineering working group) proprietary MIB managing internal LAN support within Cisco Mainframe Channel Connection (CMCC) environments — the LAN and adapter components bridging a mainframe channel to Token Ring/Ethernet. Its LAN-admin table records LAN type/ID, bridge type, source-route-bridging local ring/bridge number/target ring, transparent-bridging group, and row status, while an adapter-admin table records adapter number, MAC address, name, and row status. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm a CMCC adapter's MAC address and its source-route-bridging ring assignment. It is deployed on Cisco routers providing Mainframe Channel Connection (CMCC) internal LAN support. Engineers can download the CISCO-CIPLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CIPLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers (Mainframe Channel Connection, CMCC internal LAN)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cipCardLanAdaptAdminMacAddress to confirm a CMCC adapter's assigned MAC address matches mainframe-side configuration on a Cisco channel-connection router.

What Can Be Monitored
