Description: Provides management objects for system and component identity, including UUID assignment and serial number tracking on Cisco UCS/Firepower platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-IDENT-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-IDENT-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower management information model, tracking system and component identity information such as UUID assignment and identifier pool consumption on Firepower and UCS platforms. It exposes configuration and state data describing identity contexts, including whether an identifier has been assigned, its consumer distinguished name and type, and pool-wide counts of globally assigned versus globally defined identifiers. It supports monitoring of software/system identity status rather than classic hardware sensors: administrators can track identifier pool exhaustion (assigned versus defined counts) which, if depleted, would prevent new components (like UUID-dependent service profiles) from being properly identified or provisioned. It depends on the shared Cisco UCS/Firepower managed-object model (distinguished names, identity pools) used across the CISCO-FIREPOWER-* MIB family. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower security appliances and UCS platforms using identity pools for UUID and serial number management. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-IDENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-IDENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower security appliances
  • Cisco UCS platforms

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfprIdentIdentCtxTable/cfprIdentIdentCtxEntry to check cfprIdentIdentCtxAssigned status per identity context, and compare cfprIdentIdentCtxGlobalAssignedCnt against cfprIdentIdentCtxGlobalDefinedCnt for a given cfprIdentIdentCtxIdentPoolName to see how much of the identifier pool remains available. A pool where the assigned count approaches the defined count would signal imminent exhaustion of available UUIDs, which would block provisioning of new service profiles.

What Can Be Monitored

  • identity assignment status
  • identifier pool assigned vs. defined counts
  • identity consumer distinguished name/type
