Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment

Description: Provides management objects for communication service settings such as SSH, Telnet, and web access on Cisco UCS/Firepower management platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FIREPOWER-COMM-MIB?

CISCO-FIREPOWER-COMM-MIB manages communication services such as date/time, remote access, and administrative endpoints on Cisco UCS/Firepower fabric interconnects and chassis managers. It exposes tables covering system date/time configuration and administrative/operational state of communication-related services. The MIB supports monitoring the software configuration status of management-plane services, including admin state versus operational port/config state, which helps confirm that management access methods are enabled as intended and functioning. It is part of the Cisco UCS/Firepower management information model family and shares its DN/RN addressing scheme with sibling Firepower MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco Firepower/UCS platforms to oversee management connectivity and time synchronization. Engineers can download the CISCO-FIREPOWER-COMM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FIREPOWER-COMM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Firepower/UCS fabric interconnects and chassis managers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfprCommDateTimeTable, reading cfprCommDateTimeDate alongside cfprCommDateTimeAdminState and cfprCommDateTimeConfigState to verify the device's clock and time-sync service are both administratively enabled and operating correctly. A mismatch between cfprCommDateTimeAdminState (enabled) and cfprCommDateTimeOperPort (down) would indicate a management service that failed to come up despite being configured on.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system date/time
  • admin vs operational state of comm services
  • operational port status
  • service name/description
