Description: Provides management objects for monitoring and configuring Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) interfaces and VN-port mappings on Cisco Nexus platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FCOE-MIB?

CISCO-FCOE-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB for configuring and monitoring Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) on Cisco Nexus platforms, covering Virtual FC (VFC) interfaces that represent VF_Port or VE_Port roles on an FCoE Forwarder (FCF). It exposes configuration objects for FCoE mapping (FC-MAP), dynamic VFC creation and aging timers, default FCF priority, discovery advertisement timeout (DA_TOV), addressing mode, and VLAN-to-VSAN/fabric-index associations. Its monitoring focus is software/protocol configuration and operational status of the FCoE fabric layer—confirming VFC interfaces are created (statically or dynamically via FIP FLOGI/ELP) and correctly mapped to VLANs/fabrics—rather than physical hardware sensors. It builds on T11 FC-BB-5 FCoE standard terminology and concepts (VSAN/Fabric Index), and interacts with Cisco's Fibre Channel/VSAN MIB framework for the underlying fabric model. It is typically deployed on Cisco Nexus data-center switches that converge Fibre Channel SAN traffic over Ethernet. Engineers can download the CISCO-FCOE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FCOE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Nexus data-center switch (FCoE-capable)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfcoeCfgTable to check cfcoeCfgFcmap and cfcoeCfgDynamicVfcCreation settings, confirming whether VFC interfaces are being created dynamically as FIP FLOGI requests arrive. The cfcoeVLANTable, keyed by cfcoeVLANIndex and cfcoeFabricIndex, shows which VLANs are bound to which FCoE fabric, letting an operator verify VLAN-to-VSAN mapping matches design. A VLAN missing from cfcoeVLANTable when a fabric expects it would explain FCoE hosts failing to log into that fabric.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VFC interface creation mode (static/dynamic)
  • FC-MAP configuration
  • default FCF priority
  • VLAN-to-fabric/VSAN mapping
  • dynamic VFC aging timer
  • discovery advertisement timeout (DA_TOV)
