What Is T11-TC-MIB?

T11-TC-MIB is an IETF standards-track module (RFC 4439) defining textual conventions — shared data types and enumerations — used across the family of T11/ANSI Fibre Channel management MIB modules such as those for FC fabric, zoning, and name-server management. It is a pure convention/definition module and does not itself expose any polling objects, hardware counters, or fault traps. As such it plays no direct role in reporting uptime, temperature, or other device health metrics; its value is purely in standardizing how other Fibre Channel MIBs represent WWNs, port types, and FC-specific states. It is a foundational dependency for the broader T11 Fibre Channel MIB suite, whose modules import its types. It is used wherever Fibre Channel SAN switches, HBAs, or directors implement T11-defined SNMP management. Compiling any T11 Fibre Channel management module requires the T11-TC-MIB MIB file to be loaded first, since the WWN and port-type conventions it defines must resolve before dependent object definitions can be parsed.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in T11-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer — applies to Fibre Channel SAN switches, directors, and HBAs

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/textual-convention module with no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only supplies shared type definitions imported by other Fibre Channel MIBs.
