Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, SNMP Framework
Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for Cisco Enhanced Image MIB used for IOS software image management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB, that documents which objects and groups of the companion CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-MIB a particular IOS agent implementation supports. It belongs to the Cisco IOS software image management area, describing support statements for enhanced (bundled/consolidated) software image handling rather than exposing any runtime counters or configuration objects itself. As such it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its purpose is purely to let management systems and MIB compilers determine implementation compliance and variations across Cisco device/software combinations. It is explicitly dependent on CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-MIB, the module whose actual objects it describes support for. It would appear in a MIB repository or NMS compilation step rather than in any live SNMP polling session. Engineers can download the CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS routers and switches
Monitoring Examples
This module is a AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance definition with no runtime data objects of its own (sample_objects list is empty), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly. Its only function is to declare, for a given Cisco agent, which groups/objects of CISCO-ENHANCED-IMAGE-MIB are implemented, supported with variation, or unsupported. Tools use it during MIB compilation and compliance checking, not during live polling.
