Category: Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces

Description: Manages DS0 channel bundles on Cisco WAN interfaces, configuring time-slot groupings for voice and data circuit aggregation.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-DS0BUNDLE-MIB?

CISCO-DS0BUNDLE-MIB manages DS0 channel bundling on Cisco WAN interfaces, allowing multiple individual 64 kbps DS0 time slots to be grouped into a single logical bundle for aggregated voice or data circuit use. It is a Cisco subset implementation of the IETF DS0BUNDLE-MIB draft, exposing a bundle table that assigns bundle indices to interface indexes (dsx0BundleIfIndex) and a row-status object to manage bundle lifecycle. Its monitoring value lies in configuration and provisioning status verification: dsx0BundleRowStatus indicates whether a given DS0 bundle is active, being created, or has failed to come up, which is important for confirming that aggregated bandwidth for a WAN circuit is actually available as provisioned. It explicitly derives from and depends on the IETF draft-ietf-trunkmib-ds0-mib specification, though it omits DS0 Bonding group support present in the full draft. It is typically deployed on Cisco WAN access routers and gateways handling channelized T1/E1 trunk interfaces, and administrators can download the CISCO-DS0BUNDLE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DS0BUNDLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco WAN access routers and gateways with channelized DS1/E1 interfaces

Monitoring Examples

A WAN engineer would poll dsx0BundleTable (via dsx0BundleEntry, keyed by dsx0BundleIndex) to confirm dsx0BundleIfIndex correctly maps a bundle to its parent interface and that dsx0BundleRowStatus reads active. If a bundle configured via dsx0BundleNextIndex remains stuck in a notReady or notInService row status, it signals the underlying DS0 time slots failed to combine into the expected aggregate circuit, which would show up as reduced available bandwidth on that WAN link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS0 bundle row status
  • bundle-to-interface mapping
  • bundle provisioning state
